The legality, humanity and objectivity of criminal proceedings are largely determined by the procedural order of investigative actions, and in this context, one of the most unprocessed and controversial is the institution of those understood as disinterested participants in the process. The article offers the author’s vision of the current state of the designated institution, its genesis, current state and prospects of transformation.
