The purpose of the study is to test a methodology for assessing sustainability as a factor in the sustainable development of the economy of the regions of the Russian Federation (macro-economies), based on the calculation of integral indicators of sustainable development. Objects of research: The Russian Federation and its regions: Kemerovo (Kuzbass), Novosibirsk and Omsk. The indicators characterizing the sustainable development of the region are summarized into groups characterizing the economic, social, environmental, territorial, demographic and technological aspects of the development of the regions and the country. The research was based on statistical data, government reports and analytical studies. As a result of the study, data characterizing the weaknesses and strengths of the economies of the regions under consideration were obtained, which made it possible to develop proposals for achieving more sustainable development.
