The article is devoted to the problems of understanding and determining the place, role, purpose and meaning of the source base in dissertations on legal sciences. Underestimation of the importance of understanding and compliance with the criteria of rejection, representational characteristics and representation of sources of knowledge of state-legal phenomena and institutions as carriers of legal information in dissertation research directly affects their quality in terms of novelty, consistency, source argumentation. The evidence and verifiability of the provisions of the scientific attestation work.
