This article examines the current state of the chemical industry as a popular and dynamically developing sector of the Russian economy, requiring special attention from law enforcement agencies. The current indicators of crimes detected in this sector of the economy, the reasons for the uneven distribution of these indicators across the regions of the Russian Federation are analyzed. The features of this industry are revealed, including its multi-industry composition, the complexity of the technological process, the presence of multiple standards and rules related to the circulation of various chemical products. The list of chemical industry facilities, entities involved in its production and circulation is determined. When considering issues of operational-search counteraction to crimes committed in the chemical industry, the author reveals the methods of committing these crimes, provides examples of specific criminal cases, analyzes problematic aspects of counteraction to crimes in the chemical industry using the example of illegal entrepreneurship. Conclusions are formulated about the key factors for the success of combating crimes committed in the chemical industry, to which the author, in particular, includes the presence of a clear and understandable legal framework for law enforcement on issues of legal regulation of the turnover of products of chemical industry facilities, the presence of specific knowledge of a law enforcement officer specializing in this line of work, the interaction of employees of the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department in the process of working with various law enforcement agencies, services and departments.
