In the presented article, the problem of combating human trafficking is considered through the prism of two main factors, which include the features of the criminal mechanism and the transnational nature of the type of criminal activity in question, as well as the influence of socio-economic reasons on international police interaction. Currently, a number of Western countries are actively promoting a policy of double standards, when officially condemning human trafficking and calling to fight it, its “results” in the form of exploitation of victims are actively consumed in the legal and shadow economies of these states. Or example, the legalization of prostitution creates fertile ground for an increase in demand for “living goods”,which is clearly demonstrated by the situation with Ukrainian refugees in Europe.
